Wayne E. Clark, 81, of Connersville died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Heritage House Nursing Home of Connersville.
Wayne was a Connersville native, born April 24th 1930 to Ivan and Minnie Lechner Clark. He attended Connersville area schools and was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. On June 16th 1951, Wayne was married in Connersville to the former Nancy L. Showalter. Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic during the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Germany for three years. After twenty years of service, he retired as Master Sergeant. Wayne had been employed for 23 years at the Connersville Post Office as a letter carrier. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, American Legion, Moose and Eagles Lodges. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wayne was also an avid pool player and accomplished tennis table player.
Wayne is survived by his wife Nancy; three children: Gary W. Clark of LaGrange, North Carolina; David A. Clark of Naples, Florida; and Janet L. Clark of Fishers; four grandchildren: Vanna Clark and Bart Clark of Naples, Florida; Tara Pollitt and Chad Clark, both of Connersville.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death in by two brothers Robert Clark, an infant brother Billy Clark and a sister Betty Potters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Keith Dobyns of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Friday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.
