Virginia Readle Pearson - a beloved mother, grandmother/nana, and friend to many - passed away on March 6 2017. She was born Virginia “Ginny” Rebecca Miller to her parents, Ira and Ann Miller of Connersville, on August 21, 1920. Virginia attended local schools, and, after graduating from Connersville High School in 1939, joined the work force at McQuay-Norris where she worked during WWII. She married James F. Readle of Connersville in 1941 where they lived until moving with their two sons to their farm near Arlington in Rush County in 1954. There they enjoyed the many joys of rural and small town life of the 50’s and 60’s, including many large family gatherings. In the early 70’s they were joined on the farm with their son David, his wife Penny, and their three daughters: Michelle, Carrie, and Megan.
In 1964 Virginia began her 21 year career as Assistant to the Administrator for the Rushville Consolidated School System. A few years after her husband’s death in 1981, she retired and returned to her hometown of Connersville. There, Virginia became active in Questers, ADOU, and the Fayette County Historical Society. In 1999, she married Axel E. Pearson, formerly of the Fort Wayne area and a member of CHS class of 1936.
In addition to her husbands, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, David, three brothers, and four sisters.
She is survived by her son James and his wife Betty, her daughter-in-law Penny (Readle) Lehrer, sister-in-law June Miller of Cambridge City, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews, including Fred Bell of Connersville.
A graveside service for Virginia will be held at Arlington East Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Shawn Tipton of the Fairview Christian Church officiating.
