Russell D. Overbeck, 46, of Liberty, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Russell was a Richmond native, born October 11, 1965 to David and Linda O’Bayley Overbeck. In 1984, he graduated from Centerville High School and then joined the U.S. Marines. His military service included tours of duty in Okinawa, the Philippines and Japan. For over twelve years, Russell was employed as a machine operator at Visteon in Connersville. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed collecting coins and was a member of the Marine League, Richmond.
Russell is survived by his son: Charles David Overbeck of New Castle; his parents and their spouses: Linda M. Cates and Kenneth of Arcanum, Ohio; David Overbeck and Simona of Liberty; a sister and brother-in-law: Shay and Chris Herrman of Centerville; a niece: Monica Herrman.
Russell’s grandparents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Pastor Dana Haden of the Hanna’s Creek Christian Church, Liberty, officiating. Interment will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery, Wayne County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Tuesday unitl the time of service.
