Ronald J. Wells, 68, of Connersville, died Wednesday evening, July 18, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
A Connersville native, Ronald was born to Willie J. and Christine Taylor Wells on June 29, 1950. In 1969, he graduated from Connersville High School and attended Vincennes University for a year. Ronald’s passion for farming began at the early age of ten while working with his grandfather. He farmed most of his life and took great pride in raising cattle. Ronald was a co-owner in Wells Brothers Estates and owned and operated rental units in the community. He loved boating and spending time with his family and friends.
Ronald is survived by his wife, the former Melanie Callahan; his children and their spouses: Melissa Griffin and Kirk, Melinda Crank and Scott,, Ryan Wells and his finacé, Brittany Thomas, all of Connersville; his grandchildren: Samuel and Sarah Griffin, Maxwell and Molly Crank, Madalynn Wells; his brother and sister-in-law: Roger and Cindy Wells of Connersville; his aunt: Wilma Ruth Benedict of Cincinnati, Ohio; nieces, nephews and special Papaw to Brayland Colassaco, Kylie Welke and Lane Reece. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in section A of Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Foundation, St. Gabriel Church or to the American Heart Association.
