Robert W. Kemper, 84, of Greenfield, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his daughter’s residence in Liberty.
On May 11th 1927, Robert was born to Forrest and Edith Heck Kemper in Shelbyville and was a graduate of Charlottesville High School in Hancock County. Robert retired as the mechanic at Irving Material in McCordsville following many years of service. He had also been employed as a truck driver with Farm Bureau Co Op, in Greenfield. He was extremely active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Post 2693 in Greenfield. Robert will be remembered as someone who could always fix anything mechanical.
Survivors include his children and their spouses: Donna Campbell and Donald of New Whiteland; Mary Earlywine of Liberty; Benny L. Robbins and Tamara of Greenfield; Duane Kemper of Columbus; two sisters: Mary Alice Jackman of Fairland and Laura Ann Broward of Georgia; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, the former Delores Ramsey who died on August 23, 2011, a daughter Ellen Lambert and a brother Raymond Kemper.
Memorial services will be conducted Friday April 27th at 3 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2693, 529 Apple Street, Greenfield. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, assisted in the arrangements.
