Norman R. “Ray” Farrow, 85, of Connersville, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Fayette Regional Health System.
“Ray” was born June 11, 1927 In Cincinnati to Henry R. and Ina Francis Hawkins Farrow. He was a U.S. Navy veteran where he served as a Seamen 1st class, working as a gunner aboard the USS Miami and the USS Carberra CA70 . From 1937 to 1972, “Ray” lived in Mt. Carmel and came to Connersville in 1972. For over twenty-two years, “Ray was employed at Design & Manufacturing/White Consolidated, retiring in 1989. He was avid fan of Peyton Manning and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. “Ray” read over 1000 books and always recorded the dates he read them. He most enjoyed reading western books.
“Ray” is survived by his daughters: Connie Carson of Cincinnati; Valerie Noah and her husband, Jim of Connersville; his sister and brother-in-law: Sara Sutton and George of Arlington, IN; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, “Ray” is preceded in death by a daughter: Doris Asbury and her husband, James; a daughter: Cheryl Weisheit; three brothers: Albert, James C. and Carl Farrow; and a sister: Ruth Rathburn.
Funeral services for “Ray” will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council.
