Mentral “Bill” Manley, 94, of Connersville, died Tuesday morning, September 29, 2015, at Lincoln Centers-East.
Bill was born in Sharpsburg, Bath County, Kentucky, March 7, 1921, to James C. and Mary Boyd McCarty Manley. He and his family farmed in Fleming County, Kentucky before moving to Connersville in 1966. Bill was a WWII U.S. Army veteran where he served as a corporal with Battery B of the 282nd Coast Artillery Corp Battalion in Okinawa, Japan. He retired from Dresser Roots where he had been employed for many years as a press operator. Bill enjoyed listening to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio and watching television, especially game shows and wrestling.
Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Nancy Shelley and Joe of Connersville; his grandchildren and their spouses: Paula Miller and Roger of Brookville, Kenny Hunt and Cindy of Miamisburg, Ohio; four great-grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer Langdon and Billy of Lebanon, Ohio; Michelle Siebert and Nick of Miamisburg, Ohio; Blake Miller and Brandt Miller, both of Brookville; four great-great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Siebert; Mitchell, Alex and Ella Langdon; three nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his twin brother: Mantral Manley and his sister: Lucille Snedegar.
Private graveside services will be conducted at Dale Cemetery by Rev. Robert E. Lee at the convenience of the family. Military honors will be presented by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
