Mary Ellen Van Ausdal

Mary Ellen Van Ausdal, 94, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 29, 2012. She was a patient at Fayette Regional Health System and had been a resident of Hickory Creek Nursing Home. Mary was born in Buck Creek, Owsley County, Kentucky, November 22, 1917 one of nine children of Brice J. and Kate Rowland Dean and attended school there. On September 2, 1939, she was married in Connersville to Gale Van Ausdal who died September 24, 1991. Mary’s life was her family and she was a good Mother and Grandmother. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Woodland Bible Church. Mary is survived by five children and their spouses: Phyllis Ann Wilson and Wesley of Waldorf, Maryland; William R. Van Ausdal and Noy of San Diego, California; Roy D. Van Ausdal and Rae; John Paul Van Ausdal, all of Connersville; Daniel Van Ausdal and Loretta of Quakertown, Pennsylvania; four siblings and their spouses: Barbara Becker and Carl of Virginia; Eugene Dean and Daisy of Union City; Tilman Dean and June, Jesse Dean and Charlotte, all of Dayton, Ohio; twenty-seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three daughters: infant Katie Ellen Van Ausdal, Donna Jean Hall and Joan G. Lacy; three sons: Brice, Richard Charles and Michael Frank Van Ausdal; a sister: Arlene; three brothers: Sanford, James and Earl Dean. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School.
