Martin E. "Marty" Vaughn

Martin E. “Marty” Vaughn, 56, of Liberty died unexpectedly, Tuesday morning, June 7, 2016 at Reid Health in Richmond. Marty, the son of Allen and Margaret Pauline McGinty Vaughn, was born July 2, 1959 in Richmond and graduated from Union County High School in 1979. Marty was employed with Benchmark Human Services for more than twenty years. He also volunteered at the Union County Co-Op. Marty was a dedicated member of Grace Community Baptist Church where he loved to attended Bible Study and anticipated Pastor Troy’s biscuits and gravy. Marty enjoyed listening to religious music but he especially enjoyed sleeping and his cat, Ms. Kitty. Marty is survived by his brother: Greg Vaughn and his loving caregivers: Sherry McCashland, Reida Scott, both of Liberty; Heather Odgen of Richmond. He is also survived by his many friends at Southview Courts. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty with Pastor Troy Caudill of Grace Community Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Community Baptist Church.
