Lorne M Hartley

Lorne M. Hartley, 76, of West College Corner, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. Lorne was born in Oxford on July 7, 1939, to Estell and Frances Marshall Hartley. He graduated from Union High School in 1957 and also attended Miami University. Lorne honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. On September 7, 1962, Lorne married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Pace, in Oxford. He had worked at Square D in Oxford and at Walmart in Richmond and Oxford. He was a member of the Liberty Country Club. Lorne was a very faithful and active member of College Corner Nazarene Church serving in many offices over the years. Lorne loved being involved in church activities, playing golf, watching Union County Basketball, and watching his grandchildren play sports. In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Lorne is survived by a son: David Hartley of Richmond; a daughter: Andrea McHenry and husband, Travis of Connersville; three brothers: Nolan Hartley and wife, Carolyn of North Carolina, Monte Hartley of College Corner, and Rick Hartley wife, Jan of Dayton; one sister: Judy Schnecker and husband, Ron of Brookville; four grandsons: Michael and Noah Hartley, Austin and Christian McHenry; one great-grandson: Peyton Hartley; and several nieces and nephews. Lorne was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Vaughn Smalley. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Trinity Holiness Church in College Corner with Rev. Randy Gentry of the College Corner Nazarene Church officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery with military graveside services by American Legion Post # 122 and VFW Post #1472, both of Liberty. Friends may visit at the church from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, where memorial contributions may be made to College Corner Nazarene Church.
