Joyce E. Crutchfield, 78, of Connersville, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Reid Healthcare in Richmond.
Joyce was born January 12, 1939 in Connersville, to Kermit B and Mary G. Noe Hensley. She was a 1958 graduate of Connersville High School and remained active with her class and planning reunions. In 1959, Joyce was honored as the first Fayette County Free Fair Queen. Joyce had been employed at Dresser Roots and had owned and managed Crutchfield Suzuki. She was a member of Connersville Baptist Temple and was an accomplished line dancer. Joyce was an advocate for animals with her unselfish support of the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Don, whom she married November 10, 1966 at Calvary Baptist Church; her sons and their wives: Derek Crutchfield and Laurie, Brett Crutchfield and Danielle, all of Indianapolis; her grandchildren: Mackenzie, Alexia, Gabe, Landon and Collier Crutchfield.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Marlene Hensley who was stillborn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. James R. Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery, section K. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 to 2 p.m. Monday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
