Beloved Liberty resident and business owner, Jose Luis Leon, 48, died peacefully Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Indiana University Hospital.
The son of Roberto and Rosalva Angel Leon, Jose was born on July 28, 1976 in San Jose, Jalisco, Mexico. He married his love, Maria Leon on February 17, 1997. Together with their family, they moved to Liberty. Shortly after, Jose opened El Reparo Mexican Restaurant in 2005. He was an incredibly hard worker who loved cooking and serving the community. His smile could be seen throughout the restaurant as he talked with patrons. When Jose wasn’t working, you could find him spending time with his family, as they were always his first priority. His presence will be deeply missed by all who know and love him.
Jose is survived by his mother: Rosalva; sons: Ricardo Leon and his wife Courtney, Francisco Leon; granddaughters: Camila and Gianna; brothers: Junior, Efrain, Roberto, Joel, Raul Leon; sisters: Jessica, Yolanda, and Arcelia Leon; many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends to numerous to mention.
Jose is preceded in death by his father: Roberto Leon.
Public visitation for Jose will be conducted from 8:00 a.m., until 11:30 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2025 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. A private Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father Dustin Bohem will be conducted for the family. Jose will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
