Joey John Gonzales, 71, of Moores Hill, Indiana died Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Joey was born on October 14, 1953 to the late Joe and Joanne Gonzalez in California. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Sergeant. Joey married Carol Louise sharing many years with her until her death in 2012. Joey was employed as a software engineer for Microsoft prior to starting his own business. Using Ebay as his online store front, Joey successfully ran his trading card business for decades. He was a collector with an uncanny ability to turn pennies into dollars. Joey meticulously inventoried, cataloged, listed, and sold a variety of collectables all from the comfort of wherever he called home. A former Nomad, Joey traveled the country visiting every state along his way. He eventually decided to settle down in Kentucky before calling Indiana his home. In addition to traveling Joey enjoyed watching movies, going to sporting events, facetiming with his children, and eating his favorite snacks: hot dogs and red vines. His family will miss his sense of humor and infectious laugh.

Joey is survived by his sons: Jerry Gonzales and Michael Turnbull; grandson: Parker Turnbull; his significant other of many years: Sharon Goerler; brother: Johnny Gonzales and his wife Vicky; sister: Jody Elderd and her husband Chuck; cousins: Ron Gonzalez and Jaimie Barragan.

Joey is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Joanne, and his wife Carol.

Following his wishes for cremation, a Celebration of Joey’s Life will be conducted at the convenience of his family. Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
