Joe Timberman

September 8, 1948 — February 10, 2025

Liberty

Joe Timberman, 76, of Liberty died Monday, February 10, 2025, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Joe was born in Fayette County on September 8, 1948, to Leonard and Zella Wall Timberman. He graduated from Connersville Senior High School, with the class of 1966. Joe furthered his education by attending Anderson University focusing his studies in music. On Joe’s birthday in 1973, he married the former Diann Lee. He was employed at GTE as an engineer for many years prior to his retirement in 1999. Following retirement, Joe took a job with Napa Auto Parts where he lovingly earned the name, “Napa Joe”. He had an unwavering love for music as he was an exceptional pianist, having played for several churches throughout the area. Joe was a faithful member of Harmony Christian Church, where he was active in the music team. In addition, he belonged to several Gospel quartets over the years. Joe was a classic cars enthusiast who enjoyed attending car shows. In addition, he was a ham radio operator where he was introduced to many of his cross-country friends. As a proud “Poppy”, Joe adored his close- knit family. He cherished the time that they spent together, often hating to see his family leave after their visits. He will be deeply missed by all who know and love him.

Joe is survived by his wife: Diann; his children and their spouses: Scott and Nicole Timberman; Sara and James Thurman; grandchildren: Lucas Thurman, Samuel Thurman, Julia Thurman, Daniel Thurman, Olivia Timberman, Riley Timberman, Brady Timberman, Penelope Timberman; brother-in-law: David Lee; niece: Lisa Faris; a multitude of friends far too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his son: Michael David Timberman; sister: Phyllis Green; niece: Joan McCreary.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, with Pastor Dean VanWinkle officiating. Burial will follow at West Point Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Church in Joe’s honor.
