Jefferson “Jeff” Green, 79, of Connersville, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 30, 2012, at Lincoln Centers-East where he was a patient in the last months.
He was born September 12, 1932 in Booneville, Owsley County, Kentucky, one of four children of Elisha and Sarah King Green. Jeff moved to Connersville at the age of 27 where he did tree trimming and odd jobs. He eventually landed a job with REX Manufacturing. For 39 years, he worked at Philco-Ford before retiring. He loved visiting with all his co-workers after retiring to keep up with everyone. Jeff was a member of the Moose, VFW and Eagles, all of Connersville.
Prior to his failing health, he was a loyal member, socializing and playing cards with all his friends who made him laugh and smile. Jeff loved spending time with his family. He was a Christian and avidly watched church services on TV.
Jeff is survived by the Mother of his three children, Judy Green Garrison of Connersville; long-time companion: Faye O’Neal of Connersville; one brother: “Herbert” Hoover Green of Brookville; three children: Jeff Green and companion, Patty Miracle; Mike Green and his wife, Rose; Kim Green, all of Connersville; three granddaughters: Chrissy Tryon and her husband, Randy of Glenwood; Cassie Green and Dakota Green, both of Connersville; a grandson: Michael “Tyler” Green of Connersville; two great-grandchildren: Ethan Tryon and Riley Abshear Green; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by two brothers: Pearle and Alfred Green.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Monday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Association.
