Jason Ryan Kantz, 29, of Connersville, died early Saturday morning, December 31, 2011, at Fayette Regional Health System.
Jason was born November 11, 1982 in Beech Grove to Kevin Robert and Beth Ann Hutton Kantz and was a 2001 graduate of Southport High School, Indianapolis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had been employed at NSK in Liberty. Jason enjoyed fishing and was a sports fan, especially the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University basketball. The center of Jason’s life were his children and family.
Jason is survived by his wife, the former Somer R. Sturgeon whom he married April 3, 2010 in Connersville; six children: McKaylie Ann, Madison Nicole, Jordan Ryan, Drake Bradley, Parker MyKennah and Peyton Xavier Kantz; his mother: Beth Hutton and her partner, Nancy Wendling of Indianapolis; his father and step-mother: Kevin R. and Tabatha Kantz of Greenwood; a sister: Kara B. Keene and her husband, Ryan of Indianapolis; a brother: Spencer William Jackson of Greenwood; several nephews and nieces, including: Lilly and Abigail Keene; his maternal grandparents: Victor and Nesha Hutton of Indianapolis; paternal grandparents: Charles and Dolores Kantz of New Whiteland.
He was preceded in death by his wife’s grandfather, Cecil Sturgeon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Fuzzy Lake of Christ Jesus Community Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the family.
