James A. Baker, 62, of Connersville died Saturday night, September 20, 2014, at Fayette Regional Health Systems.
James was born in Dayton, Ohio, September 14, 1952, to Wilburn “Jackie” and Ella Rader Baker. He was a 1970 graduate of Connersville High School. James was employed with the Connersville Street Department as a heavy equipment operator for twenty four years. He was a member of Park Road Christian Center. James loved to scrap vehicles and enjoyed participating with his son in the Demolition Derby.
James is survived by his wife, the former Brenda J. Lennex; his children: Belinda Baker and her fiancé, Mike Judge; Daniel Ervine and his wife, Jennifer; his mother: Ella Baker, all of Connersville; his brothers and their spouses: Earl D. Baker and Barbara of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kelvin L. Baker and Anna of Rushville; Larry G. Baker and Wilma of Brookville; his sister and her spouse: Judy A. Eide and Andy of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter: Mackenzie Ervine; several nephews and nieces including: Tonya May and Kayla.
James is preceded in death by his father, who died September 2, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Reverend Lester Rose of the Park Road Christian Center, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to the family.
