James Horner Alexander, Jr, 77, of Liberty, died early Thursday morning, July 19, 2012, at his residence. James was born September 22, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of James H., Sr. and Alice Mattmueller Alexander. He was raised in Oxford, Ohio and worked on the family farm there in Butler County. In 1952, James graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford and joined the U.S. Army in 1954. He served as a mechanic in Germany and attained the rank of Corporal prior to his honorable discharge in 1956. For over fifty years, James owned and operated Alexander Trucking. He was an avid reader and restored antique trucks and tractors in his leisure time. James is survived by his wife, the former Kay Corso whom he married November 26, 1990 in Clearwater, Florida; five children and their spouses: Dona Miller of Albany, Georgia; James Horner Alexander, III of Macon, Georgia; Mitchell Alexander and Sheila of Cobb, Georgia; Lee Alexander and Joanna of Marshall, Texas; Joshua Alexander and Mindy of Asheville, North Carolina; two step-sons and their wives: Kurt Bruder and Beth of Alpharetta, Georgia; Craig Bruder and Holly of Oxford, Ohio; eleven grandchildren and many friends. His parents preceded him in death. Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family following cremation.
