Hiram Wayne Collins, Jr., 80 of Scenic, Arizona and formerly of Connersville, died Saturday morning, June 25, 2016 at his residence. A Connersville native, Wayne was born June 12, 1936, the son of Hiram Sr. and Ida Rose Collins. Wayne attended Connersville area schools and was a 1954 graduate of Connersville High School. For thirty six years, Wayne was employed at Dresser Roots as a parts and repair supervisor. On October 4, 1974, Wayne married the former, Janie Berkhiser. Wayne’s love for the West and hiking in the back country inspired their move to Arizona five years ago. Wayne was very religious and often studied the bible. Wayne was also a talented guitarist who greatly enjoyed music. In addition to his wife of forty-one years, Wayne is survived by his sons: Larry Collins and his wife, Lori of Indianapolis; Terry Collins and his wife, Angela of Richmond; Gary Collins; John Collins of Shelbyville; Brad Collins of Richmond; his step-son: Jeffrey Brunsman and his wife, Cathy of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; his brother-in-law: Lester Burkhart of Connersville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and long-time friends, including Bertie McKenna. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of their children: Ethel Jane Chasteen Collins and his siblings: Ralph Collins; Mary Burkhart; Phyllis Nobbe; Thelma Isaacs and her husband, Jesse. A Private Graveside Service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary, to support the love Wayne had for the scenery and trails.
