Edgar LeRoy “Cork” Lengle, 83, of Connersville died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Millers Merry Manor in Rushville.
A native of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Cork was born March 5, 1933 to LeRoy L. and Dorothy C. Moore Lengle and was a 1949 graduate of Lebanon High School. Cork married the former, Nancy D. Gaddis in Connersville, on October 4, 1952. Cork nobly served in the United States Army, during the Korean War where he was rewarded the Purple Heart and the Korea Service Medal with five bronze stars for his brave service. Following his honorable discharge in 1953, Cork served his country for additional forty years in the Pennsylvania and Indiana National Guards. Cork was employed at Design and Manufacturing, for twenty-three years, retiring in 1992. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 1, the V.F.W. Post 571, AMVETS Post 11, AARP and the National Council on Aging. Corks favorite past time was mowing grass.
Cork is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy; his children: Leroy Lengle and his wife, Gayle; Jeannine Eldridge, all of Connersville; his grandchildren and their spouses: Jason Lynn and Sarah, Dustin Harsh and Heather, Ashley Parrish and Rob, Edgar Lengle II and Tatiana; his great-grandchildren: Carmen, Amelia, Destiny and Aley Parrish, Brettley Brown, Brianna Harsh, Alivea, Maycee and Logan Lynn; his brother-in-law: Marvin Miller; several nieces and nephews.
Cork is preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Thelma Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Minister Dennis Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
