Della Sidell Marcum, 87, of Connersville, died early Thursday morning, March 22, 2012, at her residence.
Della was born in Jackson County, Kentucky, March 21, 1925 to Delbert and Plina Templeton Lunsford and came to Connersville with her family at the age of three. She attended Connersville area schools, including Eastview Elementary. Della had been employed at REX Manufacturing during World War II and had worked as an aide at area nursing homes. Della was a strong Christian woman and was a lifetime member and leader of the East Side Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her numerous involvements at the church included Sunday School teacher, trustee for many years and all activities of the church. Della read her Bible daily and enjoyed singing hymns. Della was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and helped raise her grandchildren. She liked to cook , bake and can food she grew in her garden.
Della is survived by her husband, Ermal, whom she married February 27, 1999; a son: Richard Gene Sidell and his girlfriend, Jackie Deckard of Lawrenceburg; a daughter: Patricia Ann Daily of Connersville and her husband, Dale Gene Daily of Indianapolis; grandchildren and their spouses: Shane Sidell and Michelle of Guam; Michelle Gallimore of Indianapolis; Melissa Lakes and her husband, David, Sr. of Connersville; Melinda Pitcher and Forrest of Greensburg; Shannon Cook of Richmond; eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; four siblings and their spouses: Edna Wadle of Connersville; Loretta Blackenbeckler and Eldon of Milton; Noel Lunsford and Edith, James Lunsford and Kathy, all of Connersville; several nieces and nephews, and her former daughter-in-law: Janet S. Shell.
In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death by her first husband, Omer Dale Sidell, whom she married August 3, 1942 in Connersville; he died in 1984; a daughter and son-in-law: Pamela Kay and Samuel L. Rader; her great-granddaughter: Jasmine Gallimore; a sister: Alpha Marcum; four brothers: Milton, Leonard, Charles Eugene and Herman Lunsford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the East Side Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Rev. Larry Wadle, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery.
