Dee Dee Smith, 91, of Connersville, died Thursday afternoon, August 13, 2015 at Heritage House of Connersville.
Dee Dee was born June 16, 1924 in College Corner, Ohio to Orville and Ruby Marie Harvey Smith and was a 1942 graduate of Connersville High School. Dee Dee retired from Lawson Insurance in 1992 after fifty years of employment. She was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Association and the Whitewater Valley Women’s Bowling Association where she had held all offices throughout the years. Being an avid bowler, Dee Dee attended the Women’s National Bowling Tournament for forty-seven years. In 1962, she organized Dee Dee Smith’s Annual Women’s Bowling Tournament. She also participated in the Travelette Bowling League. Dee Dee was a member of First United Methodist Church and was known for her homemade peanut brittle.
Dee Dee is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dee Dee is preceded in death by her brothers: John, Bob, Charles and Harold Smith; her sisters: Helen Cook and Pearl Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Pastor Doug Barton of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
