David L. Courtney, 68, of Connersville, died Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at Caroleton Healthcare Center.
The son of the late Lawrence E. and Jill Boram Courtney, David was born on December 24th, 1956. in Troy, Ohio. He graduated from Newton High school where he earned the nickname "Chief" because he could throw a strike from the outfield. David met the former Sherry Talbott while camping at Brookville lake. They married on July 2nd, 1988; together they shared twenty-seven years prior to her death in 2016. When David was younger, he was employed with A.O. Smith for fifteen years and was later employed with the family business, L.E. Courtney and Sons. He then began working at Visteon from which he retired after many years. David was a charter member of Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles #3998. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and arrowhead hunting.
David is survived by his children: Alice Marrs and Brett , Tom Courtney and Tiana, Jennifer Rich and Michael, Alex Courtney; brothers: Larry Courtney, Bryan Courtney, Mark Courtney and Kellie; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special friend: Rick Rowe; feline companion: boots; several nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Jill; wife: Sherry Courtney.
A celebration of David's life will be conducted on Saturday, April 19th, 2025 at the Covington Eagles #3998 in Ohio from 2:00p.m. until 6:00pm. Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter in David’s honor.
