Clara J. Noble, 81, of Connersville, died Thursday evening, May 12, 2016, Caroleton Manor Nursing Home.
Clara was born in Bicknell in Knox County, March 5, 1935, to Floyd Henry and Alice May Vale Evans. She attended elementary school in Glenwood and was a 1953 graduate of Orange High School. On May 9, 1953, she was married to John O. Noble, who died February 18, 2005. Clara attended Anderson Beauty College in Richmond and worked as a beautician from her shop in her home at Orange for over 25 years. Clara was a member of the Orange Christian Church, Club 16 and was a Girl Scout leader from 1959 to 1964. She was employed as a cook at Orange Elementary School, Fayette Memorial Hospital and Flat Rock River Lodge in Rushville.
Clara is survived by her son: John Stephen “Steve” Noble of Connersville; her Aunt: Betty Hogan of Connersville; her sisters-in-law: Norma J. Evans of Connersville; Pauline Evans of Rushville; granddaughter: Bailey Sue Noble; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her step-mother, Kate Wilson Evans; brothers: infant, Jimmy Lee Evans, Bill Evans and Robert R. Evans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a .m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Stanley Howard of Orange United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m Monday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
