Charles "Bill" York

Charles “Bill” York, 85, of Connersville, died, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Reid Health, Richmond. Bill was born to January 8, 1939, in Connersville, Indiana to George and Flossie York. He served in the U.S. Navy. Bill had worked at D & M, retiring after more than 20 years. Bill is survived by son, Charles “Cole” (Sue) York of Connersville; step-son, Joey (Beth) Lewis of Connersville; three grandchildren, Danika Sherwood, Tyler York and Marie (Zac) Jones; 8 great-grandchildren, Cohen York, Camryn York, Brett Lakes, Gavin Jones, Addison Jones, Sophia Jones, Keilyn Sherwood and Kenlan Sherwood; two great-great-grandchildren, Mia Lakes and Amelia Lakes; sister Deanna Hensley of San Antonio, Texas; brother, George “Junior” York of Fort Myers, Florida; nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn E. York, who died November 1, 2021; parents; sisters, Betty (Don) Sims, Joyce (Larry) Gard, Iva (Hafey) Riebsomer, and Helen (Bob) Williams, brothers, Robert “Ronnie” (Pauletta) York, Russell “Buck” York and Harold “Tony” York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation for Charles “Bill” York will be Monday, January 22, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, 920 Central Ave. Connersville, Indiana. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Village Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fayette County Honor Guard.
