Betty F. Shepherd

Betty F. Shepherd, 86, of Connersville, died early Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015 , at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Centre, New Castle. Betty was born in Clay City, to Charles and Addie Raley Gorby. On September 24, 1949, she was married in Hymera to Austin Joseph Shepherd who died November 8, 2000. Betty was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and had been employed at Ford Electronics as an inspector from 1967 to 1990. She also was a member of I.U.E., Local 919. Betty enjoyed her family and loved to cook. She and her husband had enjoyed gardening and fishing together. Betty is survived by her children and their spouses: Michael Shepherd and Jane of Brownsburg, Charles Shepherd and Diana of Williamsburg, Virginia; Beverly McGuire and Curt of Connersville; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren with another expected soon; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son: Rodney J. Shepherd who died November 14, 2015; five brothers: Walter, Ruell, George, John and Gene Gorby; four sisters: Joy Gorby, Beulah Bolander, Ellen Gorby, May Gorby and three infant siblings. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Alzheimer Research, 355 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
