Betty Jane Carter, 88, of Liberty died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Whitewater Commons Senior Living.
Betty was born in Cincinnati on August 25, 1927, to Delbert S. and Ethel Johnson Price. On September 12, 1945, Betty married Elmer Howard Carter in Covington, Kentucky, and they enjoyed seventy years together. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Betty served with her husband, Rev. Carter, in ministry for over fifty-five years in various churches. She enjoyed collecting bells, making crafts, and writing letters to her many friends.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by five children and their spouses: Anthony Carter and Marlene of Madisonville, KY, David Carter and Debra of West Chester, OH, Steven Carter and Michelle of Liberty, Deborah Kline and Tom of Graham, NC, and Patricia Puckett of Centerville, OH; ten grandchildren and their spouses: Melissa Phillips and Danny, Lori Gamblin and Scotty, Amy Camplin and Dwight, Michael Carter and Ildako, Mark Carter and Heather, Anita Dannaker and Brian, Jason Carter and Shola, Randall Kline and Katie, Kyle Puckett, and Chris Puckett; eighteen great-grandchildren: Joshua Mercer, Ashley Earl and husband Paul, Tyler Gamblin, Cory Gamblin, Colton Camplin, Caitlin Camplin, Allison, Shawna, Madison, Katie, Gracie, and Nathan Carter, Grace, Faith, and Cole Maddox, Aiden and Lochlan Dannaker, and Will Kline; one great-great-grandson: Landon Earl. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a son-law Rick Puckett; a grandson Matthew Puckett; a brother Harold Price and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty with Dr. Dennis Riddick officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home 12:00 noon Sunday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
