Alvin "Al" Cornett, 69 of Andersonville, went to be with the Lord, Monday July 18, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after battling several illnesses.
Alvin was a Fayette County native, born to Theo and Dorothy Morgan Cornett on June 28, 1947. He was a 1966 graduate of Rushville High School. Alvin was employed as an over the road truck driver. He later returned to further his education at DeVry Technical Institute where he studied electronics. After graduation, Alvin was employed at Xerox and worked in the Cincinnati area. Alvin enjoyed riding motorcycles, completing several cross country road trips. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and spending time with his family and friends. Alvin also liked to take pictures and listen to music.
Alvin is survived by his daughters: Angela R. Fowler and companion, John Newhouse of Bentonville; Jennifer S. “Susie” Weesner of Fairview; Lori A. Higgs of Connersville; Christina Yant of Indianapolis. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Amanda Holliman and her husband, Mark; Brittany Brown; Steven J.J. “Bub” Fowler and his companion, Kendra Nickel, all of Connersville; Amber S. Atwood; Candice M. Atwood, both of Fairview; Scarlett Higgs; Savannah Higgs, both of Connersville; seven great-grandchildren; his brother: Stanley D. Cornett of Aurora; his former wife and friend: Donna J. Parrett; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Alvin is preceded in death by his twin sisters, his maternal grandparents: Oscar and Alice Morgan, his paternal grandparents: Rob and Ella Cornett, his granddaughter: Kristin “Kri” Weesner; several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Dr. Richard L. Ralstin of Andersonville Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery Garden of Memories. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
